Formula 1 is almost here! From live music, to parties The CW has got you covered. The most popular Formula 1 event is Austin Fan Fest because it’s completely free to attend! There will be a ton of bands performing. Everyone from Los Lonely Boys to Berlin, so check out the full lineup here. Not only will there be music. You can expect interactive displays, cooking demos, zip lines, a spirit garden, appearances from the drivers themselves, and food trucks galore. And then once the sun goes down the celebrating continues with bashes thrown by Josh Duhamel, Will Buxton, and Nicolas Frankl who is turning Ballet Austin into a F1 style international night club. Half Past Now has a good list going of everything happening during F1 so check that out. And keep an eye out for photos and interviews on The CW site!
Forever Fest is almost here! Brandy Fons of Fons PR along with Sarah Pitre who is the lead programmer of films at Alamo Drafthouse have come together to create the mother of all film festivals! Forever Fest is the celebration of all things girlie. But Fons and Pitre bring up a good point- chick flicks get a bad rap. As a movie theater employee myself, I was a part of the opening team for a new location. In a training session we went around and introduced ourselves and told everyone our favorite movie. It was my turn and I quickly blurted out “The Breakfast Club!” without thinking and our lead trainer immediately snickered at me. “Seriously? Are you sure you don’t want to change you answer?” I got mad. Change my answer?? Why!? Just because it never won an Oscar and you consider yourself a film critic?? It was one of the greatest high school films of all time and was my go to movie in my teenage years.
It’s dudes like this that give chick flicks a bad rap. And the reason why we consider them “guilty pleasures.” To that I say, DAMN THE MAN. Indulge in your favorite movies without guilt or fear of judgement. Celebrate girlie pop culture with your friends, have fun, drink mimosas, watch Jake Ryan, and save Forever Fest!

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is the one and only Sir Elton John! Who, as a matter of fact, was in town last Thursday for the Andy Roddick Foundation Gala at ACL Live Moody Theater. Long time friends, Andy and Elton have partnered together for a few fundraising events including the Andy Roddick Foundation Gala back in 2011. The money raised at this event goes to Andy’s foundation, which works with youth who might not have the resources to reach their full potential through education and sports mentoring.
On the far left Elton is performing one of his most popular songs, “Don’t let the sun go down on me.”
ACL may be over but the fun continues! The Mowgli’s didn’t let it the cancellation of ACL rain on their parade. When C3 was forced to cancel the last day of the festival due to flooding, The Mowgli’s took to the streets of Austin and played a few pop-up shows. They kept in touch with fans via Twitter and set up in front of an Austin homeless shelter.
“The corner of E. 7th St. and Neches St. at 4pm across from First Steps homeless shelter. Bring anything that someone might need!
#beamowgli” – Tweet from The Mowglis
Hundreds of people flocked to Front Steps and brought clothes, diapers, food, and anything else they could grab to donate to the shelter.
Spreading love, kindness, and happiness is The Mowgli’s mission and defines what it means to “be a mowgli.” Watch the full interview here on our site: http://ow.ly/q1F46

Calling all shopaholics! The semi-annual shopping event Le Garage Sale returns this weekend. Definitely not your average neighborhood garage sale, Le Garage Sale returns to Austin in its 15th year, featuring this season’s top styles at a fraction of the retail price.
With deep discounts from over 60 retailers carrying everything from women’s and men’s apparel & accessories to children’s wear and home goods, the selection can be overwhelming for first-timers. Not to worry, Le Garage Sale owner & producer Suellen Young has quite a bit of experience navigating the popular semi-annual sale. Here are some of her top tips for a successful shopping trip:
Timing is everything. If you thrive on high energy and the thrill of a crowd, get there early and if you would rather sip & shop, then come later in the afternoon. Many vendors further reduce their prices and restock as the sale goes on so be sure to come back on Sunday. That handbag you had your eye on may be reduced much more by the end of the sale!
Wear a tank, leggings, or something form fitting. Some vendors do not have dressing rooms, so this makes it much easier to try on clothing without having to completely strip down.
Check out every booth; some of the best booths may be stores that are new to you as well as undiscovered online boutiques and independent designers. Even if you don’t recognize a store’s name, you’ll likely recognize the labels they carry.
If you spot an amazing deal, but it doesn’t quite fit perfectly, remember there are great tailors around Austin who can make the adjustments you need while still saving you money.
Bring cash, you will need it for parking and admission ($10), but bringing a little extra cash will be beneficial as ATM machines are available at Palmer but will charge a withdrawal fee. Also, some vendors (not all) may only accept cash.
Follow Le Garage Sale on Facebook and Instagram for sneak peeks at what will be on sale, info about new vendors, giveaways, after shopping dinner/cocktail gift card giveaways and more! Also sign up for the Le Garage Sale email list (www.legaragesale.net) to get reminders about next season.
And remember the number one rule…In the words of Robert Fulghum (All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten): “Play fair. Don’t hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don’t take things that aren’t yours.”
Tickets are $10 per day; cash only, available at the door. For more information on the event or participating retailers, visit http://www.legaragesale.net/ and visit the Facebook page for updates https://www.facebook.com/legaragesale.
Le Garage Sale Hours:

TRIBEZA always knows how to host a good time & their August Issue Release Party was no exception. Celebrating the newest Nightlife Issue, people mixed and mingled Wednesday evening at the much loved east side spot, Whisler’s.
The oh so stylish Joanna Wilkinson looked great per usual while chatting alongside Wade from just opened Austin edition of the online men’s store, Bonobos. A spot Jacob Stetson and I are excited to pop in soon, as evidenced by the smiles below.
Once again, the gathering was just as fun as reading the awesome latest edition of the magazine. For some great summertime recs & tips on making the most of Austin’s robust nightlife, pick up the most recent issue of Tribeza ASAP!
To complete the On-Airstreaming experience, the Black Joe Lewis crew talked with JB Hager about how the visibly magnetic group came together, odd jobs before they were musicians, and whats ahead on the tour schedule.
